Albert Moeller, 86, passed away Friday, March 14, 2025, at the family home.
Service and Celebration of Albert's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 21st, at St. Pauls Lutheran Church with Pastor Bill Pavuk officiating. Burial is at Westlawn Cemetery with military honors provided by the United States Army and the United Veterans Honor Guard.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at All Faiths Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to St. Pauls Lutheran Church.
Albert was born in the same home on the North side of the Platte River in Hall County on February 3, 1939. He was the son of Albert G. Moeller and Emma Niedfeldt-Moeller. Albert attended district 23 grade school and graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1956. As a graduation gift his parents gave him a baby blue and white 1956 Chevy car.
Albert joined the Army on March 12, 1958, and was stationed in Friedberg, Germany. He was always so proud that he was stationed with and played touch football with Elvis Presley. Albert was discharged from the Army on March 3, 1960.
After returning home from the service Albert farmed with his father and became interested in cattle. He purchased four Polled Hereford cows from Clyde Kelly and Rub Straight and a herd bull from Leland Herman, which was the start of Albert Moeller and Sons Polled Herefords in 1961.
Albert married LaVerna Peters on October 1, 1961. To this union four children were born, Albert W., Mark, Marcia and Douglas. On August 13, 1977, he married Maureen Tibbetts-Miles. To this union one son was born, Shane.
Albert was very active in education, and served on District 23 and Northwest Public School Board of Education from 1963-2008. He was also very active with the Loup Platte Pork Producers Association, Livestock Feeders Association, and Nebraska Cattlemen Association. He was a member of the Grand Island Saddle Club and the Platt-Duetsche. Albert served on the board of Directors for German Farmers Mutual Insurance for 52 years and on the board of Grand Island Farmers Union Cooperative. Albert served on the Board of Directors for the Nebraska Polled Hereford Association from 1964 to 1997. Albert also served on the National Polled Hereford Association Board from 1992 to 1997. He was instrumental in the merger of the National Polled Hereford Association and the National Hereford Association. On the state level he received the Polled Hereford Nebraska Grand Champion Bull Award in 1983, the Outstanding Polled Hereford Breeder Award in 1995, and the Heritage Breeder Award in 2019. He was also a strong supporter of 4H, FFA and the Boy Scouts.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Maureen Moeller; sons, Albert W. (Michelle), Mark (Cheri) and Shane; stepsons, Todd (Kim) Miles and Colin (Tara) Miles; sister, Joyce Dose; 18
grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by first wife, LaVerna Peters-Moeller; children, Marcia and Douglas; parents, Albert G. and Emma Moeller; sisters, Erma Jean, Neva Brabander and Shirley Ziegelbein; brothers-in-law, Walter Brabander, Don Dose and Kenneth Ziegelbein; and nephews, William (Bill)
Ziegelbein Michael Dose and James Moss.
