Obituary for Bob Arthur Haase
Bob Arthur Haase died at home on Sunday, February 4, 2018 in Grand Island. He was 87.Service and celebration of Bob's life will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at All Faiths Funeral Home. Daniel Naranjo will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.Bob was born on February 10, 1930 in Denver, CO to Reinhold and Olga Haase. He grew up, attended school and worked in Denver until the late 1960s. Bob began working when he was just 11 years old to help support his family. He had an unrelenting work ethic. Bob held various jobs from throwing flour sacks at a bakery, to driving a semitruck to becoming a salesman and eventually district manager of large trucking company. Bob was very charismatic and enjoyed meeting new people. His humor and good natured personality is why he was so successful in sales positions. In his youth, he was an accomplished boxer and race car driver. He also enjoyed raising and training German Shepard's, his favorite dog breed.He moved to Nebraska in the late 1960s and began working for Dutton-Lainson in Hastings, NE. He spent the next 40 years working for various trucking companies as a salesman, cultivating relationships with businesses across Nebraska and earning a reputation for his honesty and dependability. He didn't retire until he was 82. He became involved with Toastmasters International and excelled in the group, known for improving ones public speaking and communication skills. Bob was an exceptional orator, best known for telling humorous stories from his younger days. He had an incredible passion for life and love and lived each day with an immeasurable fervor. His laughter was infectious. Bob loved spending time with his grandchildren. He loved playing cards, board games, poker and shooting pool. He could spend hours watching his beloved Denver Broncos, Huskers or watching NASCAR races. He also enjoyed going to the casinos, watching horse and dog races, playing KENO or just sitting at his desk playing Freecell.Bob was born into the Lutheran faith and maintained a lifelong devotion to his belief. He began each day reading his devotional and as he got older, would regularly make requests to his family to read his favorite Psalms to him. He took comfort in his relationship with God and passed his unyielding faith on to his family. Bob was proceeded in death by his parents, Reinhold "Bob" and Olga as well as several beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He is survived by his wife, Sheree Haase of Grand Island, sons Reinhold (Dusty) of Hastings, Cory of Hordville, Dustin (Ashley) of Grand Island, daughters Laura (Bob) of Arvada, CO, Yvonne (Craig) of Geneva, Laci (Dirk) of Doniphan and Kilee (John) of Exeter. He is also survived by one sister, Laverda "Dolly" (Orville) of Denver, CO and one brother Wallace "Duke" (Beverly) of Des Moines, Iowa, 14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was loved by all and will be deeply missed.Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.
