Obituary for Caleb James Schmidt


Caleb James "Mercedes" Schmidt, 19, of Grand Island, passed away March 11, 2018 at home.Funeral Services will be 10:30 AM, Friday at Calvary Tabernacle, 515 S. Oak, Grand Island, NE with Reverend Russell Wolf officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM with family receiving friends from 5-7 PM at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.Memorials may be made to the family to be designated at a later date. He was raised in Grand Island and attended Jr. High in Chapman and Grand Island Senior High.He enjoyed sports and participated in basketball, football and soccer while attending school in Chapman. When Caleb was younger he loved to spend time with his horse, Cola. He also loved spending time with his friends and family and his cousins Justin and Kordeal. He loved going Black Friday shopping with his mom. Caleb also enjoyed playing his guitar and singing, especially Justin Bieber songs.Caleb enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, camping, bonfires, Jeeping, four-wheeling and was really proud of his first deer.He is survived by his parents, Al Schmidt and Jennifer and Lonnie Starke, all of Grand Island; sister, Rebecca; brothers, Trevor, Craigie, and Cooper; grandparents, Stanley and Kathryn Schmidt of St. Libory and Charlotte Parker of Longwood, FL, and Jim Starke of Bingham, NE and Eva Evans of Grand Island; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.Caleb was preceded in death by his sister, Madison; his grandpa, Larry Hypes; and great grandparents, Theodore and Wilma Rudnick.
