Carole Joyce Hongsermeier, 90, died Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Grand Island Regional Medical Center. Her service will be held at All Faiths Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at 2 pm. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Condolences can be left at www.giallfaiths.com.

Carole was born April 13, 1934, in Hamilton County, NE to Franklin and Geneva (Peterson) Stettner. She and her sister, LuEtta, were baptized and confirmed together in the Lutheran Church at Central City in May of 1952. She received her education and graduated from Central City High School in 1953. Carole then began a career with the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Grand Island, where she was a member of the Telephone Pioneers.

On June 1, 1958, Carole and Earle Hongsermeier were married at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Grand Island and spent their entire married life in Grand Island. After retiring from the telephone company, Carole and Earle managed the Shady Bend Bar for 24 years.

After their daughter, Sheri, married and began her life as a military spouse, Carole and Earle enjoyed traveling to wherever the kids were stationed. They especially enjoyed the times when they watched the grandsons while mom and dad were gone. Many, many pictures and fond memories of those times filled Carole's heart. She and Earle were long-time season ticket holders to NE football games and spent many a weekend enjoying trips to Lincoln.

Carole enjoyed crafts and, when a resident of Good Samaritan, rarely missed an opportunity to attend activities. She also loved to shop and enjoyed many bus trips to the stores or special outings.

Survivors include her grandsons, Zachary and Joshua Thielbar of Elgin, IL; sister, LuEtta Johnston of Plainview, NE; sister-in-law, Georgia Stettner of Grand Island, NE; and many family and friends.

Carole was preceded in death by her parents, husband Earle, daughters Susan and Sheri, and brother Bill.
