Obituary for Clarence H. Quandt

Clarence H. Quandt, 88 of Grand Island, died Monday, August 6, 2018 at the Grand Island Veterans Home.Services will be 10 AM Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church. Reverend Adam Snoberger will officiate. Burial of ashes will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the US Air Force and the United Veterans Honor Guard. To honor Clarence's wishes cremation has taken place.Gathering of family and friends will be from 5-7 PM Friday at All Faiths Funeral Home.Clarence H. Quandt was born on the family farm northeast of Grand Island,Nebraska on June 28th, 1930. He attended rural school and Trinity Lutheran school. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grand Island, Nebraska.He stayed on the family farm until he entered the United States Air Force in 1951. While in the Air Force he served abroad and in the Korean war. He was honorably discharged in 1955.On October 15, 1954 he married Ardelle Bradman at Dow Air Force base in Bangor, Maine. After his discharge they returned to the family farm in Grand Island until his retirement.During his farming years he worked at the ASCS office (Hall County FSA) as a field reporter where he enjoyed connecting with other farmers.He was active in his Lutheran faith by serving on several church & school boards and various offices at Trinity Lutheran. He enjoyed family activities and time with his friends at the YMCA. He wasa volunteer at the Veterans Home. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and clubs in the Grand Island area.Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 63 years, Ardelle; their children, Gary Quandt of Grand Island, Sharon (Joey) Kragelund of Pasadena, CA and Brian (Sarah) Quandt of Grand Island; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and his sister, Lucille (Bud) McGee of Denver, CO.He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Wayne Quandt; daughter, Sheryle Russell; brother, Marvin Quandt and sister, Edith Niemoth.Memorials are suggested to either Peace Lutheran Comfort Dog Ministry, Trinity Lutheran Church or to the Hall County Hero Flight.
