Obituary

Daisy M. Richardson, 92, of Grand Island passed away Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2016, at Tabitha at Williamsburg in Lincoln.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Friday at St. Pauls Lutheran Church. The Rev. Bill Pavuk will officiate. Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the church. All Faiths is in charge of arrangements.
Daisy was born on Oct. 21, 1923, in Brule, daughter of Frederick and Edith (Robbins) Starkey.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Jack (Carol) Richardson of Grand Island, Kile Richardson of Grand Island and Gale (Terry) Freeburg of Lincoln; a brother, Joe (Charlene) Starkey of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a sister, Faye (Jerry) Brown of Grand Island; six grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; along with several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers and sisters.
Daisy grew up in Lewellen, until moving to Grand Island to work at the Ordnance Plant, manufacturing bombs for World War II. On July 29, 1946, she was united in marriage to Junior Richardson.
While living in Grand Island, Daisy was employed by Delicious Foods and worked for the Telephone Company as an operator. For over 40 years she was an independent consultant for Tri-Chem Paint.
Daisy was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church, the Ladies Auxiliary and Eagles Club. She enjoyed bowling, John Wayne movies, and always had a craft project that she was working on. Daisy loved a game of cards and was an avid Huskers fan. She was an animal fanatic in general, but held a special place in her heart for horses. As a caring person, Daisy spread joy wherever she went.
