Darlene May "Dee" Stewart, 79, of Grand Island died on Friday, July 21, 2017. Memorial service will be held at 9:00 a.m. Saturday at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Grand Island. Burial of ashes will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.Dee was born January 23, 1938, on a farm east of St. Paul, the daughter of Harrison and Edith (Johnson) Morse. She grew up on the family farm and graduated from St. Paul High School, class of 1955. She was married to Merle R. Stewart on June 18, 1955 in Grand Island. With the exception of the four years Merle spent in the military, the couple made their home in Grand Island. Dee was employed at various places, but she mostly enjoyed taking care of her family.Her other enjoyments included dancing, gardening and flower gardens, and bird watching...her favorite being cardinals.Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Richard (Candice) Stewart and Debra (Charles) Costello, all of Grand Island; two beloved granddaughters, Meghan Luebbert and Melissa Hannum; and many dear friends.She was preceded in death by her husband, Merle in 2000; parents; and two brothers, Raymond Morse and Clifford Morse.Memorials are suggested to Dee's family.
