Obituary for David A. Valasek


David Valasek, 55, of Grand Island died Monday, January 16, 2017 at Bryan LGH East in Lincoln, NE. Funeral service will be 2:30 PM Sunday, January 22, 2017, at Restoration Worship Center. Rev. Jonathan Gonifas will officiate. Cremation will follow the service and burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be from 12:30 until service time on Sunday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation. David was born September 17, 1961, in Fullerton, NE to Allie... and Mary Louise (Knapp) Valasek. He grew up near Dannebrog and in Grand Island. He attended Centura in Cairo, Jefferson, Barr Middle School, and Grand Island Senior High; graduating in 1980.He was united in marriage to Carolyn Tew on April 10, 1982, at Grand Island Church of God. After which the couple lived in Grand Island. He worked for Anderson Radiator for 32 years and then at CHI Health Center for the past five years.David was a member of the Church of God and enjoyed helping others and serving God. He also enjoyed yard work, playing with his grandchildren, going to Disney World, spending time with family, and going to the beach, and Husker Football.Survivors include life-long companion: Carolyn Valasek of Grand Island; children: Sam (Kellie) Valasek of Jacksonville, FL, Alisha Valasek of Grand Island; grandchildren: Keaton Rosete, Malika Thornton of Grand Island, Ethan and Brielle Valasek of Jacksonville, FL. Brothers: James (Debbra) Valasek of Grand Island, Larry Valasek of Grand Island, Victor (Adel) Valasek of Elkorn, NE, and Bill (Patti) Valasek of Westcliffe, CO.David was preceded in death by his parents.
