Donnie was later employed at Quaker Oats Company, headquartered in Chicago. He was the human food representative for the Kansas City zone, which was comprised of Nebraska and South Dakota. Donnie worked for Quaker Oats for 14 years until the company restructured from direct sales force to a brokerage firm, at which time he began working as a sales representative for Acosta, which he retired from in 2009 due to health issues.
Donnie loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a thoroughbred horse owner and an avid thoroughbred horse racing fan. He also enjoyed time spent fishing with his friends.
