Donald "Don" I. Goodrich, 94, of Grand Island passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at Tiffany Square Care Home. Visitation will be held Friday, December 27th, at All Faith's Funeral Home in Grand Island from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Grand Island Evangelical Free Church in the Chapel on Saturday, December 28th at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Dan Brenton will officiate. Burial is at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the United Veteran's Honor Guard and United States Air Force. Online condolences may be left at www.giallfaiths.com. All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements, memorials are designated to go to Rio Grande Bible Ministries in Edinburg, Texas.
Don was born on February 24, 1930, in Superior, NE, the son of Orie L. and Cora V. (Young) Goodrich. He completed high school and enlisted in the United States Air Force in September of 1948. Don was honorably discharged on December 31, 1969. During his military service, he was with aircraft and Minuteman missile maintenance serving in Japan, Korea, Germany, and several bases in the United States. On March 11, 1951, Don was united in marriage to Gwen L. Shaw. They were blessed with 73 years together and two children.
After 21 years of military service, Don earned his Master's Degree in Education from Kearney State College and was employed by Grand Island Public Schools. He taught for 23 years at Barr Junior High School. He was a member of the Grand Island Evangelical Free Church for many years, serving on the mission board and going on mission trips. Don was also a member of Gideon's International, distributing Bibles in Nebraska and south Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Gwen Goodrich of Grand Island; children, Mark (Deb) Goodrich of Omaha and Dee (Brian) Falk of Taichung, Taiwan; three grandchildren, Holly (Ben) Radke and their children, Grant, Beckett, and Gwendolyn of Gretna, Jennifer (Paul) Gilg and their children, Landon, Carter and Rosalie of Omaha, Hannah Falk and children, Brayden and Rylee of Taichung, Taiwan; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Don was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Ralph Goodrich, Lloyd Goodrich, Robert Goodrich, Geraldine Busboom, Barbara Coon, and Shirley Swanson.
