Evelyn Gewecke, 96, of Grand Island, left this earth to join her husband, Ivan, on March 3, 2025. A Celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, March 6th at 2 pm at All Faiths Funeral Home, with Dan Naranjo officiating. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service, also at the funeral home. Burial of ashes will take place at Westlawn Cemetery, immediately following the service.
Born on July 22, 1928, in Cairo, NE, to John and Emilia (Stoltenberg) Eggers, Evelyn was raised in the area where she met and married Ivan Gewecke in 1947. Together, they built a life farming and raising two sons.
They retired to Grand Island. Where they enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Evelyn's passions included fishing, dancing, playing cards, sewing, and reading.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ivan; sister, Arlene Brown; and grandson, Jamie Gewecke.
Evelyn is survived by her sons, Jim of Wood River, and John (Mari) of Lincoln; grandson, Aaron of Lafayette, LA; nieces, Barb (Mike) Kenney of Superior, Becky (Gregg) Otte of Grand Island; and nephew, David (Joan) Brown of Wood River.
