Ferne Louise Svoboda, 87, of Grand Island died Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Tiffany Square Care Center, Grand Island.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at All Faiths Funeral Home. Father Scott Harter will officiate. Entombment of ashes will be in the columbarium at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no viewing.

Ferne was born June 5, 1929, to Granville and Blanche (Beck) Davis in Bostwick. She grew up on the family farm near Superior one of six children. She graduated from Superior High School in 1947.
On March 10, 1951, Ferne married Norbert Svoboda at St. Mary's Cathedral in Grand Island. They lived in Grand Island their entire 66 years of marriage. Ferne was a housewife and later worked for Miller and Paine and Barr Junior High.
Ferne was a loving, faithful wife and very good mother and will be greatly missed. She had a very pleasant demeanor and always had that smile on her face.
Some of her enjoyments included sewing and crafts, knitting and crocheting, cooking and baking, and always liked to try new recipes, especially for family. Ferne really enjoyed the 14 months she lived at the Lebensraum. She made friends there and enjoyed the activities and good food.
Survivors include her husband, Norbert of Grand Island; a son, Jim Svoboda of Grand Island; a daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Frank Brodersen of Hastings; a sister, Marilyn Edwards of Papillion; a brother and sister-in-law, Wendell and Eula Davis of Longmont, Colo.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, LaVonne, Glendora and Marcy; and four brothers-
in-law.
