Gilbert "Gib" L. Johnson, 83 of Grand Island, passed away Monday, July 3, 2017 at the Grand Island Veterans Hospital. There will be a private family service at a later date. Burial of ashes will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials are suggestedto the family to be designated at a later date. Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. Berney on January 4, 1957 at Yankton, South Dakota.He entered the United States Army in November of 1956 and was Honorably Discharged in October of 1962. One of Gib's fondest memories of his time in the service was meeting Elvis Presley and getting to talk to him while stationed at Ft. Hood, TX. Gib was a truck driver his whole life and last worked for Holmes Freight Lines. He also belonged to the Teamsters Union, Local 554.He was a member of the Platt-Duetsche Society.He enjoyed fishing at his cabin at Erickson Lake, Husker Football, and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids and great grandkids. Gib is survived by his wife of 60 years, Judy; his children and their spouses, Steve and Theresa Johnson of Grand Island, Kristy Keller of Grand Island, and Sheri Beed of Grand Island; a sister, Eileen Payne of St. Paul; grandchildren, Nicole Enck, Montie Keller and Emily Johnson; great grandchildren, Jaden and Elli Enck; and many nephews and nieces.He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Randy; grandson, Tyler; two brothers; an infant sister; his mother and father-in-law; four brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law ReadMore»
