Gilbert Gomez Sr., 46, of Bladen passed away Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings.Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Iglesia Adventisa in Grand Island. Visitation will be the two hours prior to the service also at the church. Burial at Westlawn Memorial Park will immediately follow the service. All Faiths Funeral Home is serving the family.Gilbert was born on February 8, 1971 in DeLeon, TX, to Martin and Rosa (Oranday) Gomez. He was raised and received his education in both Nebraska and Colorado. He was united in marriage to Monica Escamilla on January 26, 1996. Gilbert and Monica have since made a home in Nebraska with their eight children.Gilbert worked hard to take care of his family, in the fields of construction and car detailing. His most beloved career, second only to being a father, was being the bass player for Conjunto Transito, which is the band he and his brothers played together in.Gilbert loved to barbeque and go fishing, and he never missed any good times spent with his family.Forever cherishing his memory are his wife; his children - Gilbert Gomez Jr. of Bladen, Patrick Gomez of Blue Hill, Johnny Gomez of Bladen, Ramiro Gomez of Grand Island, Gustavo Gomez of Bladen, Steven Gomez of Bladen, Perla Gomez of Bladen, and Hope Gomez of Bladen; his mother, Rosa Gomez of Hastings; brothers, Martin Gomez Jr. of Hastings, Fabian Gomez of Bladen, Johnny Gomez of Blue Hill, Candelario Gomez of Hastings, and Abraham Gomez of Hastings; sisters, Mary Lucas of Grand Island, Andrea Lucas of Grand Island, Stephanie Gomez of Hastings, and Beatris Beltran of Holdrege; as well as his seven grandchildren.Gilbert was preceded in death by his father.
