Obituary for Herbert F. Heider
Herbert was born December 29, 1925, in Grand Island, the son of Ferdinand and Clara nee (Dankert) Heider. He attended elementary school at District 28 and graduated from Trinity Lutheran School in the eighth grade. In 1944, he graduated from Grand Island Senior High. In 1948, he was drafted into the United States Army and honorably discharged. After being discharged, Herbert attended Coyne Electrical School in Chicago, IL.On June 17, 1951 he married Joanne W. Lau at Trinity Lutheran... Church in Murdock, NE. To this union six children were born. They made their home in Grand Island were Herbert was owner of Heider Construction. He built homes in and around Grand Island until he retired.Herbert was a life-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he was baptized, confirmed, taught Sunday school, and served on several church leadership roles over his life. He enjoyed spending time in the woodshop at the Stuhr Museum.Survivors include children: William "Bill" (Wendy Peirce) Heider of Grand Island, David (Teresa Clement) Heider of Amarillo, TX, Stanly (Laura Logan) Heider of Lincoln, NE, Mary (Karl) Ziegler of Bellevue, NE, Ruth (Robert) Armao of Indianapolis, IN, and Paula Heider of Grand Island; 16 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; brother: Daniel of Whittier, CA; sisters: Alice Weber, Irene Heider both of Grand Island, Anna Bandimere of Nevada City, CA; and brother-in-law: Vern (Dorothy) Lau of Murdock, NE.Herbert was preceded in death by brothers: Herman, August Raymond, Elmer; sister: Evelyn Peterson; brothers-in-law: Walter Quandt, Theodore Weber, Ollie Peterson, Keith Bandimere; sister-in-law: Ethel (Kroeger) Heider; infant granddaughter: Leah Grace.
