Jerry D. Brown, 81, of Grand Island died Friday, May 12, 201, at the Good Samaritan Society of Grand Island.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First-Faith United Methodist Church in Grand Island with the Rev. Trudy Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at Apfel Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to Meals on Wheels.
Jerry D. Brown was born Aug. 1, 1935, in Lincoln and was adopted at the age of 5 by Harry G. and Lula V. (Badburg) Brown. He grew up and attended school in Ogallala.
He entered the U.S. Air Force on March 8, 1954, serving in Germany, and was honorably discharged on Nov. 26, 1957.
He was united in marriage to Alice Faye Starkey on March 8, 1959, in Ogallala, moving to Grand Island in 1966, where he worked for Ford New Holland until he retired in 1991.
He was a member of the Eagle's Club and Rolling Eagle's Camping Club. He enjoyed camping and bird watching.
Those left to cherish this memory include his wife, Faye of Grand Island, two daughters and a son-in-law, Vicky L. and Stephen Hoch of Portland, Ore., and Stacy J. Nunn of Hastings; one son, Duane C. Brown of Grand Island; and nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
