Joann was born on Feb. 4, 1942, to Theophilo and Monica (Barnas) Rosenthal at Tarnov. She grew up in Omaha and attended St. Mary's Grade School and graduated from South High.
She was united in marriage to Ramon "Ike" Eickhoff on Sept. 4, 1965, at Fremont. To this union three children were born, Randy, Shannon and Philip. They lived in Omaha, where she was working at Guy's Potato Chips. Together, in the early 1970s they built their home near Bennington, where they lived until 1981. At that time Ike's career moved the family to Grand Island, where they now live.

Joni enjoyed camping and belonged to the Rolling Eagles Camping Club, baking pies, and taking care of her house plants. She especially liked babysitting and taking care of her granddaughters. She was an active member of St. Mary's Cathedral and a member of the Grand Island Mother Singers.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Ramon "Ike"; her children, Randy and his wife, Lisa, Shannon Eickhoff and Philip Eickhoff, all of Grand Island; her granddaughters, Jordan and Justine Eickhoff of Grand Island; three sisters, Lucy, Geraldine and Sally; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ernie, Richard, Lester and Delbert; a sister, Lorraine, and an infant sister, Joann.
