She attended kindergarten in Wood River, but after a devastating tornado, school was held in the Wicht family home. In eighth grade Juanita again began attending school in Wood River. She had to pass the eighth-grade exams in Wood River and also go to Grand Island and take the Hall County eighth-grade exams. With two eighth-grade diplomas in hand she finished high school in Wood River, graduating with the class of 1942.
