Kathleen "Kathy" J. Aufdemberge, 80, of Grand Island passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2024. Our Savior Jesus Christ has destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel. Let us remember with thanksgiving what God has done through His servant Kathy.
Service and celebration of Kathy's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church. There is a visitation from 10:00 until the time of the service at the church.
Burial will be at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Kathy was born August 16, 1944, in Omaha, the daughter of Albert and Eleanor (Franke) Stelling. She became a child of God in Holy Baptism and confirmed that faith at Zion Lutheran Church in Omaha. On August 21, 1965, Kathy married Victor J. Aufdemberge, and they made their home in Grand Island.
Kathy was a homemaker, babysitter and a cook at Trinity Lutheran School for 26 years.
A 50-year member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Kathy was active in LWML, the Altar Guild, Senior Choir and Handbell Choir. She was also an active member of the Grand Island Concert Association for over 20 years and was an advocate for the fine arts in the Grand Island area.
Kathy is survived by her husband of 59 years, Vic; children, Rebecca (Karl) Bergdolt, Marian Aufdemberge, Angela (Ruben "Bubba") Ramirez and Matt (Amber) Aufdemberge; and beloved grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Lambert, Marilyn, Fredrick and Morton.
The Lord gives and the Lord takes away; blessed be the name of the Lord. We give thanks to God our Father, through Jesus Christ our Lord, for our wife, mother, and grandmother Kathy.
Memorials are suggested to Heartland Lutheran High School or Trinity Lutheran Church.
