Lois Marie Kroll, 90, of Grand Island died on Saturday, July 23, 2016, with her family by her side at Wood River Good Samaritan Society.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wood River, officiated by the Rev. Jorge Canela. There will be a Rosary prayed at 9:30 a.m. prior to her mass. Burial of ashes will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. All Faiths Funeral Home is serving the family.
Lois was born March 17, 1926, in Hastings to Joseph and Rosaline (McCarthy) Hartman. She grew up in Hastings, graduating from St. Cecilia High School in 1944. Lois graduated from St. Francis School of Nursing in 1947. Over the years, she was a nurse with the VA Medical Center, Soldiers and Sailors Home and St. Francis Medical Center. Nursing was such a part of Lois that right until the end, even as a patient in the nursing home, she was trying to care for others.
Lois loved to socialize and her enjoyments included horse racing, the casinos and bingo. She was a past member of the Eagles.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Mary Lubken of Grand Island; her grandson and his wife, Shaun and Mandy Lubken of Dickinson, N.D.; and eight great-grandchildren, Noah, Evan, Jace, Cole, Faith, Mason, Reid and Eva.
She was preceded in death by her parents; half brother, Mark Hartman; and half sister, LaVita (Hartman).
Memorials are suggested to Wood River Good Samaritan Society.
