CENTRAL CITY - Loyal O. Ruhl Jr., 95, of Central City, died Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at home.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Solt-Wagner Funeral Home in Central City, with Pastor Curtis Cooper officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in the Westlawn Cemetery at Grand Island.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday at Solt-Wagner Funeral Home.

Loyal was born Jan. 22, 1923, in Ord to Loyal Ruhl Sr and Ida (Rice) Ruhl. He attended Grand Island Public Schools and graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1942. Loyal served in the United States Army from 1942 to 1945 and served during World War II and the Battle of the Bulge.
Loyal married Clarice Stoppkotte in 1946. To this union five children were born. On Feb. 1, 1968, Loyal and Clara Brokaw were united in marriage in Central City.
Loyal was employed by Kruz Electric and later by the City of Central City, where he retired in 1985 as superintendent of the Electrical Department.
Loyal was an avid hunter and fisherman. He especially enjoyed retirement on the acreage, restoring old cars and tractors. He also enjoyed collecting and restoring antiques.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Clara; four daughters, Karen Davis of Lincoln, Diane (Dean) Duncan of Ravenna, Kimberly (Todd) Reimers of Cairo and Lori Jensen of Cairo; a son, Charles Ruhl of Fairbury; stepchildren, Connie Dettman of Central City, Larry Brokaw of Mullen, Cindy Hines of North Platte and Terry Brokaw of North Platte; a stepson-in-law, Darrell Widman of Chapman; 22 grandchildren, nine stepgrandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 25 stepgreat-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and five stepgreat-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Bonnie Smaha of Grand Island.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Raymond Ruhl; stepchildren, Twila Widman and Rick Brokaw; and a grandson.
