Obituary

Mark W. Lawson, 62, of Grand Island died Feb. 2, 2017.
Private family services will be Feb. 17 at All Faiths Funeral Home. The Rev. Michael Reiners will officiate. Burial of his ashes will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mark was born Dec. 30, 1954, in Lincoln, the eldest son of Ralph D. and Wilma "Jean" (Nelson) Lawson.
He was raised in Grand Island and Ogallala. He graduated from Ogallala High School with the Class of 1973. He then received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1980 and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aviation Management from Metropolitan State College in Denver in 1989.
Mark served in the U.S. Army on active duty and was honorably discharged in 1978. Mark continued to serve his country for 13 years following active service as a Combat Medic in the Nebraska Army National Guard. Mark had various jobs throughout his lifetime, including being a U.S. Department of Agriculture Meat Inspector and working for Ford Motor Credit Corporation. Mark enjoyed boating, driving a dune buggy, and water skiing at Lake McConaughy with his family.
Survivors include his brother, Col. (Ret.) Pete (Ornuma) Lawson of Woodbridge, Va., and his sisters, Lynne (Dr. Tom) Werner of Grand Island, Terri Faulder of Lincoln, Jill Lawson of Seoul, South Korea, and Karen (Brooks) Rarden of Centennial, Colo. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Grant Faulder, Jordan Faulder, Adam Werner, Jane Werner, Elliott Rarden, Emma Rarden and Vincent Vest. Aunts, Diana (Lynn) Hoepfinger, Phyllis Kinney and Marion Gilsdorf.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Chuck Faulder.
Memorials are suggested to Peace Lutheran Church for Eddie the Comfort Dog Ministry.
