Mary Stella Martinez Caballero, 61, of Grand Island died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Evangelical Free Church of Grand Island. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at All Faiths Funeral Home.
Mary was born March 6, 1955, in Grand Island, the daughter of Joseph and Belen (Silva) Martinez. She grew up and attended school in Grand Island, graduating from Grand Island Senior High, Class of 1973.
Mary loved her family and extended family. She was "mother" or "grandmother" to whomever she met. Everyone was family.
She loved to shop and garage sales were at the top of her list. She was a Husker football fan and also enjoyed crocheting and cards. Her beautiful smile will always be in our hearts.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Anthony Martinez of Grand Island, Danelle Martinez of Arkansas, Anna Dominguez of Grand Island, Jasmine Martinez of Arkansas, Juan Caballero of Grand Island and Cata Caballero of Grand Island; brothers, Gilbert Martinez, Tommy Martinez, Michael Martinez, Tony Martinez, Jose Martinez, Fernando Martinez and Isaiah Martinez, all of Grand Island; and sisters, Gloria DeLeon of Grand Island, Martha Martinez of North Carolina, Maryann Martinez of Grand Island, Veronica Martinez of Grand Island and Nati Martinez of Grand Island.
She was preceded in death by her parents and infant brother and sister, Joseph and Belen.
