Nancy L. Demuth, 81, of Grand Island passed away on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
Visitation will be an hour prior. Burial of ashes will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
Nancy was born on May 22, 1936, in Grand Island, daughter of John and Henrietta (Willman) Hofferber.
Nancy was a lifelong resident of Grand Island. She graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1954. Her first job was as an usher at the Capitol Theatre on Second Street.
Nancy married Dick Demuth on Dec. 30, 1961. Two children were born of this union, a daughter, Dana, and a son, Mickey, who was tragically killed in a car accident in 1995, at 28 years old. Nancy wore an angel pin every single day after Mickey's passing in remembrance of him. Nancy was a devoted wife and mother, being a stay-at-home mom while being very involved in their schools, activities and church.
Nancy was an avid reader and her love was romance novels. In fact, she was even writing one of her own. Nancy completed research for many of her favorite authors, which she was quite passionate about.
Nancy loved to write letters. Once her grandchildren went to college, she was known for her frequently sent hand-made cards and daily emails with loving words, life advice and fun facts. She lovingly called herself the "Butterfly Lady."
Nancy was a proud breast cancer survivor.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, husband, Dick Demuth, on Aug. 31, 2017; her son, Mickey; parents; sister, Alma Keller; and brother, Kenny Hofferber.
She is survived by her daughter, Dana (Rocky) Newman; her grandchildren, Chance, Catelyn (Troy) and Callie; her special cousin, Shirley Bruhn; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Nancy's family would like to thank her niece, Wendy Arnold, and Prairie Winds Assisted Living for all of their love and support.
