Phyllis Elaine Ourada, 92, of Grand Island passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family.
A graveside celebration of Phyllis' life will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Westlawn Memorial Park, 4996 W. Stolley Park Road, Grand Island. Condolences and memorials may be sent to the family for later designation in care of Teri Ourada at P.O. Box 5025 Lincoln, NE 68505.
Phyllis was born June 23, 1926, in Grand Island, to Frank and Lillian Ladwig. She later moved to Lexington where she completed high school. After high school, Phyllis married her high school sweetheart, Leonard Ourada. They were married for 50 years, before he passed from cancer.
Phyllis was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and great friend. She dedicated her life to family. She adored her children and grandchildren. She gave them unlimited love and kindness. Phyllis was kind, caring, funny and thoughtful. She was known for her warm smile, her love and compassion and the gatherings of family at her home. She went through life's challenges with resilience and humor.
Phyllis was employed at Skagway, Montgomery Wards, then the Veterans Home as a canteen supervisor for 23 years. After retirement, she found great pleasure traveling, spending time with family and friends, and attending grandchildren and great-grandchildren's activities and events. She loved reading, crocheting, playing cards, bingo and other games with the children.
Phyllis was so proud of all her family's accomplishments and encouraged them to follow their dreams and pursue their passions. Her family treasures every moment Phyllis spent with them, and the positive effects she had on each of their lives will prevail far beyond her valued time on earth. Her death was a great loss to her family and friends.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Marti Ourada; daughters and sons-in-law, Patty Butters, Sandra Ourada, Carol and Dale Searle and Teri Ourada-Hubka and Rich Hubka; grandchildren, Alan, Brenda, Chad, Stephanie, Teresa, Jennifer and Billie Jo; great-grandchildren, Arron, Emily, Gracie, Nick, Carly, Jeff, Sina, Brady and Elaina; great-great-grandchildren, Brook, Yana, Dylan, Rosie, Aly, Julianna and Julian; dear friends, Ginger, Jacque, and Evelyn; as well as her precious Quincy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Ourada; father, Frank (Alma) Ladwig; mother, Lillian (Frank) Slonsky; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Frank and Francis Ourada; sisters, Shirley Hoffa and Twyla (Frosty) States; daughter, Sharon Einsphar; son-in-law, Bill Butters; grandson, Leonard Butters; and great-granddaughter, Katlin Einsphar.
