Obituary

Ruby Ann Brown, 91, of Grand Island passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2020.
Celebration of life service will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at All Faiths Funeral Home with a visitation from 12:00-1:00, the hour prior to the service. The service will be livestreamed on All Faiths Funeral Home Facebook page. Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Ruby was born April 24, 1929, in North Loup, NE, the daughter of Oren and Rosina (Lloyd) Carr. She graduated from Scotia High School. On October 20, 1946, at the age of seventeen, she married her high school sweetheart, Gary E. Brown. They farmed near Scotia until moving to Grand Island in 1950.
Ruby was not only a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many; she was a dedicated employee having worked at the Grand Island Veteran's Home for 35 years when she retired at 65. Feeling the need to have more to do, she then worked the lunch line as cashier for Central Catholic Schools for several years. She loved being around the children. Ruby was currently a member of True North Church of Grand Island.
Over the years she and Gary were inseparable; enjoying camping, fishing and bowling together and with their friends. Playing cards and the friendships with her card buddies were also very important to Ruby. However, her family and the times spent with her family were a priority and there are many great memories of holidays and times spent together.
Those who will cherish her memory include her children, daughter, Patsy (Clark) Kalkowski of Grand Island, and sons, Bill Brown of Florida, Jerry Brown of Grand Island and Terry (Chana) Brown of Arizona; sister, Jane Keezer of Ord; grandchildren, Jennifer (Robert), Michelle, Gavin, Ariann (Mark), Heather (Terrance), Hillery (David), Rocky (Tiffany) and Cooper; 17 great-grandchildren; and a great great-grandchild.
She is also survived by several nieces and nephews; sisters-in -law and brothers-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary; parents; two brothers, Jim Carr and William Carr; two sisters, Clara Mavis Schultz and Delores Carr; and nephews, Bruce Keezer and Dennis Shultz.
Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.
