Ruby L. Usasz, 85 of Grand Island passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Golden Living Center- Parkplace.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Resurrection Catholic Church. Fr. Mike McDermott will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday with a Rosary at 7 p.m. at All Faiths Funeral Home
Those left to cherish her memory include, daughter, Doreatha "Dee" ( Bill) Noziska; son, Steven (Judy) Usasz all of Grand Island; sister-in-law, Nelda Hallner; grandchildren, Troy Noziska, Tracy Noziska, Justin Usasz, Katie Usasz, and Mitch Usasz; six great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tony; grandson, 1st Lt. Mark Noziska; brother, Glen Hallner.
Ruby was raised and received her education in Ericson where she graduated from high school.
On October 12, 1953 she was united in marriage to Anton "Tony" Usasz. The couple made their home in Ericson then a farm near Burwell. While living near Ericson, Ruby was employed by the local bar and grill and helped Tony on the farm. In 1966 the family moved into their new house in Grand Island, where she has lived ever since. She was employed by the Telephone Company and most recently Woolworths'/Woolco as the shipping and receiving manager. Most importantly, Ruby loved being a homemaker, loving mother and grandmother.
Ruby was always there for her friends and family in many different ways, it could be a thoughtful phone call or showing her love by baking and cooking for events. Christmas was a favorite holiday for Ruby and gave her a chance to bake candies and cookies for friends and family. Throughout their 61 years of marriage, Tony and Ruby loved to garden and can the produce together. She loved all flowers and could grow them all along with their vegetable garden. Ruby loved being a grandma, and was always there for her grandchildren, it could be for a sleepover or comforting them when the fireworks or family were too loud. Ruby's memory will be cherished as a wonderful and loving mother and grandmother.
