Obituary for Sharen L. Brunken
Sharen L. Brunken, 56 of Grand Island passed away on December 10, 2016 at Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. The Celebration of Life service for Sharen will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 17 at Restoration Worship Center. Pastor Jeff Friesen will officiate. Inurnment of ashes will follow the service at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Sharen was born on January 28, 1960 at Central City, daughter of Milton and Louise (Lohr) Brunken. Her memory is cherished by her children, Nic (Tara) Liegl, and James (Hilary) Liegl both of Grand Island, Mistina Liegl of Columbus, and Amanda (Colt) Crowther of Central City; brothers, Carl (Terry) Brunken of Columbus, Louis (Sue) Brunken of Clarks, Richard (Cindy) Brunken of Galena, MO; sisters, Fern (Peter) Boldt of St. Catherines, Ontario, Canada, Irene Johnston of Columbus and Karen (Ron) Tholen of Macomb, MI; grandchildren, Sean, Thomas L., Ethan, Thomas C. and Neva; beloved four legged companions, Patches and Precious; along with numerous extended family and friends. Sharen was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Marrianne Longnecker, and brother-in-law, Bob Johnston. Sharen was raised in Clarks where she graduated in 1978. Following high School she enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving from October of 1979 until her medical discharge in September of 1980. For many years Sharen attended 1st Baptist Church of Columbus and was recently attending Solid Rock Baptist Church. In the last year she renewed her faith and was baptized. Her spare time was spent enjoying a good romance novel or watching true crime programs. She also enjoyed listening to classic country except when she was cleaning she would listen to AC/DC. As a devoted Husker fan; Sharen never missed watching a game with her family. Sharen was known for her caring heart; she adored her animals and loved the time she spent with grandchildren and family. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.
